We finally got our A/C fixed this morning. Bless that dear, dear man who gave me my 68 degrees back. Life is so much better with a little chill in the air, isn’t it? Except for that fact that I have a cold – sore throat, faucet nose and all. Yesterday at the beach something (I thought) splashed me on my stomach. But then I figured out, no, that’s just my watery snot dripping straight down and out of my nose, similar to the way the coffee lands drop by drop into our coffee pot every morning.

It’s just so sexy when that happens, isn’t it?

Anyway, to avoid being a Debby Downer, there are many more highlights of our trip than lowlights, so let’s move on to those, shall we?

Yesterday we spent some of our day out on the white sandy stretch of beach. It was beautiful. And hot. But the really great thing is that this time of year there aren’t too many people around. So it’s quiet. Peaceful. Which is exactly why Rob spent his time at the beach looking mostly like this:

I, on the other hand, spent plenty of time people-watching (and yes, that is a Coke Zero in my hand, not water, PLEASE DON’T JUDGE ME):

My conclusion from my day of people-watching research confirm that some people just don’t give a damn.

What I mean is, THEY HAVE NO SHAME. NO SHAME AT ALL.

Now, I am all about having some self-esteem and confidence, (especially out on the beach where you practically walk around half-naked), but that’s not exactly how I would classify an entire butt-crack creeping out of a swimsuit bottom. Would you?

Sorry, there’s not a picture of that one. You can use your imaginations on that one, if you wish.

When we finally got to the point of being too hot to continue living, we headed back to the pool to cool off. And luckily, due to the high number of retirees in our area, there was much more modesty around the pool than at the beach.

We capped off the day with an amazing dinner, and an even more amazing dessert- a Florida orange cake. It was like a Creamsicle on a plate. DELISH.

Fin.

The best thing about vacation so far is that I can do all of my favorite things: eat, read, relax, blog, and eat. Needless to say, I think I am really enjoying myself.

Getting here was a little rough, though. We flew into Orlando (Oliver and I), met Rob who was here for business earlier in the week, got a rental car, and made the four hour drive down to Ft. Myers Beach.

All of that, in and of itself, was not bad.

The bad part was that my poor puppy’s bladder was apparently stapled shut and no matter what, I could not get him to go potty.

When we got off the plane, and it had already been probably six hours since he had last gone, I found a grassy area, said, “Ollie! Go potty!” and, no pottying happened. Then we stopped two times on our drive down here, found grassy areas and said, “Oliver! Da**it, GO POTTY!”. And, no. Nothing.

So there we sat in the car, Oliver on my lap, and me nervously wishing and hoping his bladder wouldn’t give out on him and urine wouldn’t end up in my lap. On my new shorts. (And who cares if they were only $12 from Target? They were SUCH A DEAL, that it made them even more precious to my dear, frugal soul.)

FINALLY, with my fingers crossed and my eyes shut tight as I was praying to the dear Lord above that there would be no accidents in the car, we pulled into our condo’s parking lot, and Oliver ran out, ran right to doggie potty area, and peed. For about eleven minutes straight.

I have never been so overjoyed at the sight of urine. And clearly, Oliver is a bit of a potty snob, and is quite particular about where exactly he relieves himself.

Other than that little bump in the road, we have had a fab time. Yesterday consisted of sleeping in, Waffle House for breakfast (the dumpiest of all dump restaurants I have ever been in, in my entire twenty-four years of existence, but what else were we supposed to do, we had no food?), and laying out by the pool.

(Speaking of laying out: note to self and Rob, please remember to rub sunscreen on your legs today. Otherwise, your thighs will be a-screamin’ even more than they were yesterday, and that may cause serious vacation distress. PLEASE AVOID.)

Unfortunately we have no pictures yet, but don’t worry, we already chastised ourselves about it last night as we were on the beach watching the sunset.

And lastly, my new purse! In the picture it looks way more red than it does in person. To get the right idea of the color, go grab your kids’ Crayola crayon box, find the Red-Orange color, and that’s it.

Does my mama have good taste or what?

Have a good one, everybody.

Please, do let me tell you all about this weekend’s events.

Let’s see… well, Saturday wasn’t all too exciting. Let’s move on.

Actually, the reason it wasn’t very exciting was because we had to go to bed early, because Rob and I had to get up at 4:00 the next morning. For some reason, he decided on Saturday night that it would be a good idea to do a triathlon the next morning. Just, you know, spur of the moment. Like it was the right thing to do.

As it turns out, it was a sprint distance tri (.5 mile swim, 12 mile bike, and 3 mile run), and was about an hour away from our house. Although we had to get up practically in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT to drive there, get him registered and all set up, it was a success! He did an awesome job, and actually placed 4th in his age group!

He is quite the natural-born triathlete.

Good job baby :)

After we got home around 10:30, and I felt like an entire day had already passed, it was time for another baby shower for my bff Mo. She looked so cute, and got some more adorable pastel-y type baby things. Only 6 weeks to go!

THEN, (hang with me here), it was time for my birthday festivities to begin! Technically, the real day isn’t until the 18th, but with Rob leaving on a business trip in a couple days, my parents decided to take us up to Tabor Hill winery to celebrate while he was still in town.

Needless to say (HELLO, there was wine tasting and really great food involved) we had an awesome time, and it was the perfect way to start the countdown to 24!

This weekend I hosted Mo’s first baby shower. She was absolutely glowing, and is living proof that pregnancy really does result in silky hair and beautiful nails. I’m assuming God invented that as some sort of trade-off, you know, like in exchange for a nine month body renovation you can at least have pretty fingers. And then a little beautiful baby to boot.

Here is the hot mama with Colton’s first toy!

Colt is a sports fan already and doesn’t even know it…

I think the day was a success and that she is off to a good start collecting things for her little boy. After this shower, and more specifically looking over her vast registry at Babies R Us, I have come to realize that babies require lots of stuff. Equipment. Major paraphernalia. And to be honest, all the pastel blankies and onesies are enough to make any respectable girl start lactating. I’m just saying.

Congrats again, Mo. Tell C-Money tonight that his Aunt K loves him.

(Chrissy, Mom, Mo, Me)

Monday night I went out to dinner with my BFF Mo, her Mom, and my Mom. If you can’t tell already, the Babymama is the one with the good old H20 on the rocks. Doesn’t she look great, and oh-so-pregalicious? Her little boy is growing like a weed!

In the past year Rob and I have been to two Dave Matthews Band concerts – one in Chicago and one in Wisconsin. The former was awesome; we had such a fun time and made memories that I will never forget. The latter, however, was the concert from hell. I kind of knew from the beginning that that would be the case when he gave me the second round of tickets.

Because you know how when you try and duplicate something a second time, your expectations are all high and the bar is set way up there? Well, the second time I do anything it’s never really as good as the first. Kind of a let down, really.

And believe me, by saying that the Wisconsin concert was a ‘let down’ is being very generous.

Anyway, that really is another story in itself, and to avoid getting you all depressed and dumpy before the weekend, I will save that one for later.

What I really wanted to do was to tell you what I think are my concert must-sees.

  • Madonna. Madge. Her Madgesty. I would love, love, love to see her hotness. I love all her music, new and old. And I’ve heard that in concert she is rockin’. Coincidentally, she is going to be in Chicago in October! For Rob’s birthday I almost got him tickets for us to go because we have both agreed that we’d like to see her…but then I questioned if it was, you know, weird at all? For example, what if his new work buddies were all, hey what’d the wifey get you for your birthday? And he had to reply with MADONNA TICKETS?! That would maybe cause some raised eyebrows, wouldn’t it? I thought so. And I couldn’t do that to him. So maybe we’ll just go see her anyway.
  • U2. Without a doubt, HAVE to see them. Especially over-seas. That would be the shiggity diggity.
  • Janet Jackson. I have listened to her music since I was, like, five. I remember having the chicken pox, staying home from school, putting together puzzles all day, and listening to “Escapade” on repeat the whole time. (Well, I guess it wasn’t really on ‘repeat’ since it was a CASSETTE TAPE. I actually had to re-wind it every three minutes. How did we deal?) Then when I was on the pom squad in high school we tried to copy her dance moves because, come on, she was an awesome dancer. And those abs, they are killer.
  • Justin Timberlake. I know, I know. I kind of hate to admit it. I just feel like he would be so fun to see live. But I have no shame.
Who would you love to see in concert?

If you haven’t already done so, please head over here and enter to win some moo-lah! Only 2 more days!

By the way – great suggestions so far! I may have to quit my job just so I can go see all of these places!

(Except by quitting my job, I would, in essence, be forcing myself to stay home. You know, lack of funding and all. So scratch that.)

We will have a winner Thursday night!

Hey all – don’t forget that you can still go over to my old blog, kaleyjessica.blogspot.com, and win a $25 giftcard to Barnes & Noble. Leave a comment for a vacation destination and you’re in the runnings!

…and how about that new header up there? Compliments of my  hub. Thanks hub! :)

Thank you all who have already commented on the vaca post! For those of you who haven’t given me your opinion yet, a $25 Barnes & Noble giftcard is still fair game until Thursday, May 29th at 5 p.m.! Just click on this link and tell me where your favorite beachy vacation spot was. You all are the best!

Note to people who care: Sorry, I know it’s all very confusing with the move from Blogger to WordPress, but in order to keep all comments in the game, we gotta put all of them together on the Blogger page. Blah blah blah.

Rob and I started researching vacation destinations last night. We would like to go somewhere in the Fall; somewhere that kind of resembles that picture right up there. Maybe Cabo? Cancun? St. John? Belize? We don’t want to spend an arm and a leg, exactly, but still want it to be a nice resort. Also, we would like to get there easily, so travel is an issue (ie: 8 hours on a plane is probably a big fat NO).
So where have you been that you absolutely loved? Have you heard about somewhere that was amazingly awesome? Your suggestions in this matter would be oh so helpful! Yes, YOURS. I see you. I know you read this blog. So help a girl out! Will bribery work? I would take you with us! Actually, no I wouldn’t. But how about a randomly selected commenter gets a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card? That’s almost as good as a free vacation, right? Right?!?!?
K, we’ll play this little game here until next Thursday at 5 PM. And seriously, thanks in advance for your input :)
